Mindful Self-Compassion (MSC)
Mindful Self-Compassion, or MSC, is a treatment that combines mindfulness and self-compassion to increase emotional resilience. It is composed of three components: mindfulness instead of over-identification with emotions and experiences; common humanity instead of isolation; and self-kindness instead of harsh self-criticism. Treatment itself often consists of meditations to get a felt sense of these different processes. It also includes stories, metaphors and exercises to strengthen your inner compassionate voice and let go of your inner critic. This is a more emotion-focused and experiential approach that is effective either as a stand-alone treatment or as an adjunct to other therapy options.
